River Seat Company

In 2014, Adam Mingee decided he wanted to try his hand at reupholstering an old vintage Bates seat. He picked up a heavy duty mechanical sewing machine, some leather and went to work.

Each seat is pressed, welded, shaped, sewn and covered by hand with love. One at a time.

River Seat Company was founded that summer through the trial and errors of covering seats for the bikes that his friends were building. Adam saw that people needed an alternative to paying high dollar for Bates seats that were hanging on by a thread. He also noticed that many other reproductions were made of cheap vinyl and had no soul behind them.

Just a one man operation, each seat is formed and stitched one at a time in Adam’s small shop in Norfolk, Virginia.
